Homemade crescent rolls ingredients

Here is the full list of all ingredients needed for this recipe. For precise measurements, please look at the recipe card.

  • Flour: I used all-purpose flour in this recipe.
  • Milk: I used whole milk. It will help to activate the yeast.
  • Active dry yeast: It helps to lift the rolls.
  • Granulated sugar: Sugar will also help to activate the yeast.
  • Salt: Adding flavor.
  • Oil: I used canola oil. You can substitute it for any oil you prefer.
  • Unsalted butter: Butter will give these rolls an amazing taste.
  • Egg: I am using one egg to brush the tops of the rolls. It will give them a nice golden finish.
  • Sesame seeds: I love sesame seeds. Just sprinkle a little bit on top of each roll.

How to Make a Homemade Crescent Rolls

Preheat the oven to 400 Fahrenheits.
In a bowl with warm milk, add yeast, sugar, and a pinch of flour. Stir it and leave for 5-10 minutes until it becomes foamy.
In a large bowl, add oil, salt, and yeast mixture. Then add half of the flour and start mixing with a spatula. Then, gradually add the remaining flour. Work the dough with your hand until most of the flour is combined.
Transfer the dough to the flour-dusted work surface and knead the dough for a minute or two. If the dough is sticky, add a little bit of flour.
Divide the dough into three equal portions. Roll each dough ball into a 9-inch circle. Cut the dough circles into eight triangles. To each triangle, add a little bit of cold butter.
